Auburn defensive lineman DaVonte Lambert is out for the season after knee surgery.

Tigers coach Gus Malzahn said that Lambert had surgery Tuesday. He says losing Lambert for Saturday's game with No. 2 Alabama is "a big factor."

Lambert leads the Tigers with 3.5 sacks this season.

The coach did say that receivers D'haquille Williams and Ricardo Louis are expected to play against the Crimson Tide. Williams, the team's leading receiver, missed the past two games with a sprained right knee. Louis missed the Samford game with an undisclosed injury.

Malzahn also says defensive tackle Jeff Whitaker will miss the Iron Bowl with a nagging injury. Whitaker hasn't played in the past two games.
