Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Pittsburgh Penguins used their trade deadline acumen to produce the re-acquisition of defenseman Ben Lovejoy from Anaheim on Monday afternoon.

The Ducks received defenseman Simon Despres in return.

Lovejoy totaled one goal and 10 assists in 18 1/2 minutes per contest this season in southern California.

The New Hampshire native and Dartmouth product made his NHL debut with the Penguins during the 2008-09 season but did not qualify for inclusion in the club's Stanley Cup list. Lovejoy was originally shipped to Anaheim in February of 2013 for a fifth-round draft pick in 2014.

Despres had participated in a career-high 59 games this season in the Steel City, totaling personal bests of 15 assists and 17 points along with 64 penalty minutes.

The 23-year-old Quebec native departs the Pens having collected 33 points (5G, 28A) in 144 appearances since 2011.
