But despite trailing at the break PSV came out firing in the second half with Ola Toivonen leveling the contest in the 49th minute before Lens took over.

PSV went up 3-1 in the 63rd minute after two goals from Lens, and he completed his hat trick in the 89th.

AZ Alkmaar remained six points clear at the top of the league after topping Den Haag 3-0.

Brett Holman's goal after 11 minutes put AZ in front and both Adam Maher and Jozy Altidore added goals after halftime to secure the win.

Utrecht got two goals from Nana Asare in a 6-4 victory over Ajax, which drops the defending champions 11 points back of AZ.

Dmitry Bulykin scored a pair of goals for Ajax, including one late in the first half to put his team up 3-2.

However, Utrecht tallied four goals after the break to snatch all three points and hand Ajax its second defeat of the season.

The other match on Sunday saw Twente cruise to a 4-0 win over De Graafschap to remain in second place.
