Duluth, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Meighan Simmons scored 17 points and joined an exclusive club as No. 6 Tennessee clipped 12th-ranked Kentucky 71-70 in the title game of the SEC Tournament on Sunday.
Simmons, who was only 6-of-18 from the floor, became the fifth Tennessee player to reach 2,000 points. She now has 2,004 in her career.
Isabelle Harrison had 16 points and Cierra Burdick grabbed 10 rebounds for the Lady Vols (27-5), who rallied from a 10-point first-half deficit to capture their league-best 17th SEC championship and fourth in the past five years.
DeNesha Stallworth paced Kentucky (24-8) with 21 points, while Linnae Harper and Jennifer O'Neill each added 12.
The Wildcats lost in the final for the fourth time in five years.
