German Philipp Kohlschreiber won two matches on Thursday to advance to the semifinals at the Kitzbuhel Cup.

The top-seeded Kohlschreiber was one of several players forced to play twice on the clay courts at the Mercedes-Benz Sportpark after rain wreaked havoc with Wednesday's schedule, leaving five second-round matches as well as the quarterfinals to be contested on Thursday.

Kohlschreiber lost the first three games of his second-round match against Hungarian qualifier Attila Balazs before play was halted. He overcame the overnight deficit to post a 6-4, 6-1 victory, then swatted 13 aces on his way to knocking out Czech Lukas Rosol with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 triumph in the quarterfinals.

Up next for the 23rd-ranked Kohlschreiber will be Italian Filippo Volandri, who bested fourth-seeded Spaniard Albert Ramos and Brazil's Rogerio Dutra Silva by identical 6-4, 6-4, scores.

Defending champion Robin Haase of the Netherlands beat Austrian qualifier Philipp Oswald 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. The third seed then topped American Wayne Odesnik 6-2, 6-4 for a semifinal berth.

Haase will play fifth-seeded Slovakian Martin Klizan, who beat Simone Bolelli in three sets, 1-6, 7-5, 6-1.
