Casablanca, Morocco (SportsNetwork.com) - Seeds Martin Klizan and Jiri Vesely were among Friday's quarterfinal winners at the Grand Prix Hassan II tennis event.
The second-seeded Slovakian Klizan got past former top-10 star Nicolas Almagro of Spain 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), while the Czech 21-year-old No. 3 seed and rising star Vesely vaulted past British qualifier Aljaz Bedene 6-1, 6-4.
Two other quarters saw Bosnia's Damir Dzumhur upset sixth-seeded Austrian Andreas Haider-Maurer 6-3, 6-3 and Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver douse Moroccan wild card Lamine Ouahab 6-4, 6-3 on the clay courts at Complexe Al Amal.
Saturday's semifinals will pit Klizan against the 22-year-old upstart Dzumhur and Vesely versus Gimeno-Traver.
The 2015 Casablanca champion will earn $87,000.
