Omaha, NE – Elijah Johnson grabbed a steal and drove the winning layup with 23.3 seconds remaining as minded Purdue squad, 63-60, in the Midwest Region.
Johnson finished with a team-high 18 points, Travis Releford and Tyshawn Taylor contributed 10 apiece and Thomas Robinson doanted 11 while grabbing 13 rebounds for the second-seeded Jayhawks (29-6), who will compete in the Sweet Sixteen for the second consecutive year.
Kansas will battle NC State for a spot in the Elite Eight.
Robbie Hummel netted 9-of-13 attempts from the floor, including five makes from beyond the arc, en route to 26 points, and added nine rebounds, but it was not enough for the 10th-seeded Boilermakers (22-13).
