Malaga, Spain – Malaga winger Joaquin Sanchez is facing up to four weeks on the sidelines because of a torn thigh muscle, the club announced on Friday.
The 30-year-old sustained the injury in a benefit match on Thursday, with tests confirming the extent of the problem.
Joaquin joined Malaga from Valencia over the summer and he has scored two goals in 13 league appearances so far this campaign.
The injury will prevent Joaquin from taking part in Malaga's two-legged Copa del Rey matchup with Real Madrid while he is also expected to miss league games with Atletico Madrid, Sporting Gijon, Barcelona and Sevilla.
