Top seed John Isner was an easy quarterfinal victor while Andy Roddick suffered defeat Friday at the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships.

The 6-foot-9 Isner handled eighth-seeded promising Aussie Bernard Tomic 6-3, 6-2 in a mere 56 minutes on the hardcourts at Delray Beach Stadium and Tennis Center. The big-serving American swatted nine aces and was broken only once by the 19-year-old Tomic.

The towering 26-year-old Isner, who hails from North Carolina, is currently a career-best No. 11 in the world. He will meet Kevin Anderson in Saturday's semifinals.

Anderson, seeded seventh, ousted the fourth-seeded Roddick 2-6, 7-6 (11-9), 6-4 in 2 hours, 33 minutes to advance. The former No. 1 Roddick, who is currently ranked 30th in the world, was the Delray Beach runner-up back in 2002.

A Day-5 upset came when Israeli Dudi Sela tallied six service breaks in sneaking past fifth-seeded German Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 6-0. The 26-year-old Sela is one win away from reaching only his second career ATP- level final. He was a runner-up in Beijing in 2008.

Former Delray Beach champ Ernests Gulbis will not title here for a second time in three years, as Aussie qualifier Marinko Matosevic overcame the Latvian 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.

Matosevic will appear in his first-ever ATP-level semifinal against Sela here on Saturday.

The 2012 Delray Beach titlist will collect $75,780.
