Uniondale, NY – The New York Islanders signed defenseman year contract Friday.
Staios had been attending the Islanders training camp on a tryout basis and appeared in each of their three preseason games before inking the deal.
The Hamilton, Ontario native was drafted in 1991 by the St. Louis Blues and has played in 936 career NHL games for Boston, Vancouver, Atlanta, Edmonton and Calgary.
He has 56 goals, 156 assists and 1,269 penalty minutes in his 15-year career.
