Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt suffered an elbow injury during practice on Thursday.

Texans head coach Gary Kubiak was unsure how serious the injury might be.

"We're going to take a look at it," said Kubiak. "Hopefully, everything will be OK."

Watt had 56 tackles with 5 1/2 sacks as a rookie last season. He doesn't expect the injury to be an issue for the start of the season.

"I will be on the field against the Dolphins. Better than ever," Watt wrote on his Twitter feed.

The Texans, coming off their first playoff appearance after winning the AFC South last season, will open the season September 9 against Miami.
