A day after Bernard Tomic and Lleyton Hewitt lost first-round matches at Wimbledon, they were officially confirmed among six Australians to return for next month's Olympics tournament at SW19.

The fifth-ranked Samantha Stosur and 27th-ranked Tomic received direct acceptance into the singles events because of their world rankings on Wednesday.

Hewitt, the 2002 Wimbledon champion, was also granted a wild card into the men's singles event.

In women's doubles, Jarmila Gajdosova and Anastasia Rodionova were selected alongside Casey Dellacqua, who will combine with Stosur as a second Australian doubles pairing.

Hewitt and Tomic both lost their singles match Tuesday, marking the first time since 1938 that no Australian male players advanced to the second round.
