Sao Paulo, Brazil (SportsNetwork.com) - Sixth-seeded Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and eighth-seeded Santiago Giraldo suffered first-round setbacks Tuesday at the Brasil Open tennis event.

Both players were knocked off by Brazilian wild cards, as Thomaz Bellucci upended Giraldo of Colombia 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, while Rogerio Dutra Silva outlasted Garcia-Lopez of Spain 1-6, 7-5, 6-3.

Italy's Paolo Lorenzi awaits Dutra Silva in the next round after downing Spanish qualifier Pere Riba 7-5, 6-3, while Bellucci will battle Austria's Andreas Haider-Maurer after he edged Germany's Julian Reister 6-2, 4-6, 6-1.

Other first-round winners on Tuesday included Italy's Potito Starace, Spain's Albert Ramos and Albert Montanes, Slovakia's Martin Klizan and Argentina's Federico Delbonis.

This week's top seeds in Brazil are German Tommy Haas and three-time champion Nicolas Almagro of Spain. Haas and Almagro, along with third-seeded Marcel Granollers and fourth-seeded Juan Monaco, received byes into the second round.
