France calls on Giroud for U.S., Belgium

Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud earned his man roster for two upcoming friendlies.

Giroud, 25, is currently level atop the Ligue 1 scoring chart with PSG's Kevin Gameiro on eight goals.

"He's having an excellent start to the season with his club," Blanc said. "We've been following him for some time. He is an unusual player and I like players like him in a central striking role."

Yoann Gourcuff and Patrice Evra were notable players not called into the team, but Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery returns after missing recent Euro qualifiers through injury.

France plays the U.S. on Nov. 11, and Belgium on Nov. 15.
