Former heavyweight boxer Tommy Morrison died Sunday. He was 44 years old.

Morrison's former promoter, Tony Holden, told the Tulsa World that Morrison died with his wife, Trisha, at his side on Sunday night in Omaha.

The cause of death was not revealed.

Morrison captured the World Boxing Organization title in June 1993, winning a 12-round decision over George Foreman. He suffered a first-round TKO against Michael Bentt two bouts later.

However, Morrison might best be known for the role of Tommy Gunn in the 1990 movie "Rocky V."

Morrison tested positive for the HIV virus in February 1996 before a fight in Las Vegas. He last fought in 2008 and had a record of 48-3-1 during his boxing career.
