Florida State RB Thompson out for season with ACL injury

Florida State senior running back Chris Thompson will miss the rest of the season with an ACL injury.

Thompson had 687 yards rushing and five touchdowns this season for the 11th- ranked Seminoles, who are coming off a 33-20 win over Miami on Saturday. He also caught 21 passes for 248 yards.

This is the second straight year that Thompson's season has ended early. He missed the final eight games last season due to two broken vertebrae.

"It's a very big blow to us because of what he is to our team," Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said. "But we've got two very good guys behind him."

Florida State will turn to sophomore running backs Devonta Freeman and James Wilder Jr.

The Seminoles welcome Duke to town on Saturday.
