Dynamo come from behind to top 'Quakes

The Houston Dynamo secured its first win in 1 at Robertson Stadium on Saturday.

After conceding a goal to Khari Stephenson in the first half, Houston rallied to come from behind, getting goals from Brad Davis and Will Bruin in the second half to claim all three points.

Stephenson put San Jose in front in the 40th minute with a brilliant volley. Steven Beitashour chipped a cross into the box and an on-rushing Stephenson connected to put his side in front just before halftime.

But Houston answered immediately after the break. Davis not only earned a penalty for the Dynamo, but he stepped up and converted the ensuing kick to equalize in the 47th minute.

Bruin completed the comeback for Houston, slotting home the game-winner in the 79th minute. Luiz Carmago sent a cross into the box from the right flank to find Bruin, who one-timed a shot past a diving Jon Busch.

Houston (9-9-12) now has 39 points on the year to strengthen its case for a playoff spot, while San Jose (6-11-11) failed to build upon its victory over the Chicago Fire in its last outing, as the 'Quakes remain in eighth place in the West with 29 points from 28 games.

The Earthquakes continue their three-match spell away from home next Saturday, as they travel to Dick's Sporting Goods Park to face the Colorado Rapids. The Dynamo also return to action on Sept. 24, heading to Pizza Hut Park to take on FC Dallas.
