Flushing Meadows, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Novak Djokovic raced into his 22nd straight Grand Slam quarterfinal Monday at the U.S. Open.

The world No. 1 stalwart and seven-time major champion thwarted 22nd-seeded German Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-1, 7-5, 6-4 in just over two hours at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Labor Day in the United States.

The last time Djokovic lost before the quarterfinals in a Grand Slam event was five years ago against Kohlschreiber in Paris. The Serb has now reached eight straight U.S. Open quarterfinals and won his last 11 Grand Slam matches overall.

The Wimbledon champion's round-of-eight opponent will be eighth-seeded Andy Murray or ninth-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Murray upset Djokovic in the 2012 U.S. Open final. Djokovic beat Tsonga in the 2008 Australian Open final.

Djokovic captured his lone U.S. Open title in 2011 and is a four-time runner- up in Flushing, including last year against Rafael Nadal. The Serb has appeared in the last four finals in New York.
