DCU, Orlando set to meet at Citrus Bowl

Orlando, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - D.C. United and Orlando City SC will be seeking three points to boost morale when the two clubs meet at the Citrus Bowl on Friday.

With only a month gone in the 2015 MLS season, it's far too premature to assign any sort of importance to Friday's clash, but a win will be coveted highly by both sides given how their first few matches have transpired.

D.C. United is in good shape through three matches, claiming six points to lift the club to second place in the Eastern Conference.

Ben Olsen's men opened the season at RFK Stadium with a 1-0 victory over the Montreal Impact and claimed a dramatic 1-0 home defeat of the Los Angeles Galaxy last time out.

In-between, United produced an uninspired performance in a drab 2-0 loss at Red Bull New York, which tops the East on seven points.

Olsen will be eager for an improved showing away from home as the club gets its regular season Eastern Conference title defense back on track.

Orlando, meanwhile, has gotten off to a somewhat rocky start in MLS, which has the club in search of its first home win of the campaign.

The expansion side began play with a 1-1 home draw against New York City FC, a peculiar match that saw the hosts receive three cautions for simulation.

Orlando then claimed a 1-0 victory at BBVA Compass Stadium thanks to a second- half gift from Houston Dynamo goalkeeper Tyler Deric, but Adrian Heath's men were promptly brought back down to reality with a 1-0 loss to Vancouver Whitecaps FC at the Citrus Bowl as Octavio Rivero scored at the death.

The club fell in a two-goal hole against the Montreal Impact at the Stade Saputo last time out but showed great resolve to battle back for a point by earning a 2-2 draw.

Orlando takes great pride in its four points from its two matches away from home, but the club will aim to take greater advantage of the massive crowds at the Citrus Bowl and make the ground a fortress, beginning with Friday's meeting with United.

On the other hand, D.C. will be eager to improve its road form as the club searches for its first points of the season away from RFK.
