The Arizona Diamondbacks placed infielder Geoff Blum on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday and recalled former first-round pick A.J. Pollock.

Blum, 38, has a strained left oblique. The 14-year veteran has gone 1-for-11 in eight games with the Diamondbacks this season after missing the majority of 2011 with right knee inflammation and a fractured pinkie finger.

Pollock, a first-round selection (17th overall) by Arizona in the 2009 First- Year Player Draft, was recalled from Triple-A Reno. The 24-year-old outfielder has hit .340 with five RBI in 12 games with the Aces this season.
