Ken Horton scored 28 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to lead Central Connecticut State to a 66-47 win over Monmouth (N.J.) on Thursday night.

Horton's 20-plus point effort was the 25th of his career, which is the most among active players in the Northeast Conference.

The Blue Devils (11-7, 4-3) fell behind 11-2 early and still trailed 19-10 with 8:55 remaining in the opening half before ending on a 19-4 run to take a 29-23 halftime lead.

Central Connecticut State stretched its lead to as many as 22, 64-42, with 2:09 left to play. Monmouth shot 19 for 56 from the floor (33.9 percent), including 3 of 20 from beyond the arc (15 percent).

Shemik Thompson scored 12 points and Robby Ptacek added 10 for the Blue Devils, who have won seven of their past nine games.

The Hawks (5-14, 1-6) were led by Phil Wait's 14 points and 14 rebounds.
