Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose was a late scratch from Monday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies because of a sprained left toe.

Rose had warmed up and seemed ready to play. Chicago coach Tom Thibodeau had said Rose's availability was a game-time decision, but he was anticipating he would play. John Lucas III started in his place.

Rose missed the Jan. 11 game against Washington because of his toe. He did play, however, in Chicago's last two games, scoring 25 and 18 points.

Rose is the Bulls' leading scorer at 20.8 points a game.
