Bucs' facility treated for MRSA

Tampa, FL – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers recently treated their facility for MRSA, a serious staph infection that has sidelined guard Carl Nicks and kicker Lawrence Tynes.

Nicks is out indefinitely with an infected blister on his surgically repaired left foot, while Tynes has an infected toe on his right foot.

"Our primary concern is always the health and safety of our players and staff," Tampa Bay general manager Mark Dominik said in a statement released Thursday. "Our players were informed of the situation and we sought the advice of experts, including the NFL's medical advisor, who provided counsel and approved of our comprehensive measures including the treatment of our practice facility."

Both cases were diagnosed last week while the Bucs were in New England practicing with the Patriots.

Neither Nicks nor Tynes made the trip to New England, leaving them exposed to the staph infection that is resistant to some antibiotics.
