Browns rookie linebacker Barkevious Mingo shows speed, versatility in strong NFL debut
BEREA, Ohio – Browns rookie linebacker Barkevious Mingo seemed to be everywhere in his NFL debut.
The first-round draft pick had a huge impact in Cleveland's 27-19 win over St. Louis last week. The No. 6 overall pick from LSU had several pressures on Rams quarterbacks, recorded a sack that was nullified by a penalty, delivered a key block on Travis Benjamin's 91-yard punt return for a touchdown and made a tackle on a kickoff.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Mingo — everyone calls him Keke — showed his exceptional speed as a pass rusher.
Mingo has made a strong impression with his teammates. Cornerback Joe Haden called him a "freak" because of his physical tools, but has been impressed with Mingo's humility and work ethic.
