Britain signs deal to use Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte for 2016 Rio preparations

The British Olympic Association has reached a deal to have its team prepare for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics in the southeastern city of Belo Horizonte.

BOA says Britain will "train, prepare and acclimatize" in the city which is "ideally located in the center of Brazil and only a one-hour flight from Rio."

BOA chairman Sebastian Coe, who signed the memorandum of understanding with the city on Wednesday, said Belo Horizonte will provide the "best possible environment for our athletes."

Belo Horizonte Mayor Marcio Lacerda said the city "will ensure that every member of Team GB are welcomed with open arms and provided with the best facilities and support to help them prepare."

Belo Horizonte is also a World Cup host city.
