Jimmy Gray scored a career-high 23 points as Binghamton remained the only team unbeaten in America East Conference play with an 83-75 victory over Maryland-Baltimore County Wednesday night.

The Bearcats (6-10, 3-0), who used only eight players and were without leading scorer Greer Wright, beat the Retrievers (1-15, 0-3) for the fifth straight meeting. Wright has an ankle sprain.

The Retrievers played to a 33-33 tie at halftime and were tied at 43 just before Robert Mansell's 3-pointer with 14:28 left gave the Bearcats the lead for good. That started a 7-0 run.

Binghamton, picked in a conference coaches' preseason poll to finish eighth out of the league's nine teams, led by at least five points thereafter.

Mahamoud Jabbi added 17 points and 14 rebounds for Binghamton's first double-double of the season.

Chris De La Rosa led all scorers with 31 points for UMBC.
