C.J. Reed and Garrius Holloman scored 17 points apiece as Bethune-Cookman defeated Howard 56-49 on Monday night to regain sole possession of first place in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

The Wildcats (11-9, 6-1) lead the league because Hampton, which started the night tied with Bethune-Cookman, fell to Florida A&M 62-58.

Howard (2-17, 0-7), last in the league, lost its ninth straight.

Alexander Starling supported Reed and Holloman by notching 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats, who have won six of their last seven.

Anton Dickerson, who hit four 3-pointers, was the only Bison in double figures with 15 points. Mike Phillips claimed 12 rebounds for Howard.

Bethune-Cookman led by as many as 17 points in the second half, but three of Dickerson's 3-pointers helped Howard cut it to 48-40 with 2:11 to go.
