A University of Alabama fan is free from jail after serving time for poisoning Auburn University's landmark oaks at Toomer's Corner.

Harvey Updyke left the Lee County jail in Opelika on Monday morning after serving 76 days following his guilty plea. Updyke also spent time in custody awaiting trial.

Updyke was sporting a bushy mustache as he left. A lawyer and a sheriff's deputy escorted him to a bail bondsman's pickup truck waiting outside the jail.

The Alabama fan didn't talk to reporters on the advice of defense lawyer Andrew Stanley.

Updyke pleaded guilty to charges of poisoning the Auburn trees amid the Tigers' national championship run in 2010 after Auburn beat Alabama in their annual rivalry game.
