"What's your sign?" may not be the first question that comes to mind when you're looking to buy a home (and it's a genuinely crappy line to use in a singles bar, too). Yet it turns out top astrologers have tons to say about how your horoscope can help point you to the perfect place.

Not a believer in this woo-woo stuff? That's OK. Most of us rational beings aren't. But that doesn't keep us from occasionally (OK, maybe more than occasionally) peeking at our favorite horoscopes just for kicks and a little astrological/divine guidance at important points in our life. And after all, what's more important than buying a new house?

So if you're looking for a little added inspiration on the home-buying front -- and for some indication of what the stars (celestial, not celebrity) say about your perfect living conditions and buying techniques -- check out this astrological guide to real estate, which we've compiled with the help of master astrologer Patrice Kamins.

Aries (March 21 -- April 19)

House seekers born under the sign of Aries are action-oriented and competitive, meaning that once they find a place they love, they'll go after it with abandon. (Note: Bidding wars are commonplace with an Aries.) Open spaces will attract this sign (think loft-type rooms), as well as fireplaces (Aries is a fire sign after all). And since these folks tend to love fitness and exercise, a home gym or close proximity to parks and outdoor spaces will beat a quick path to their hearts.

Taurus (Apr. 20 -- May 20)

Typical Taurians love luxury living but are also frugal. Other commonly used descriptors: thrifty, cheap, and penny-pinching. As such, they'll want a home with the most amenities for their money with long-term value. These bulls like to put down roots. Patient and loyal, people under this sign will take the time to find the "right" place rather than impulsively jumping into a purchase, however long it takes.

Gemini (May 21 -- June 20)

Those under this curious sign need constant stimulation. As a result, a Gemini might very well have more than one residence (probably apartments over houses) and favor city dwellings (where the action is). Known to be the type that will start something but have trouble finishing it, a Gemini would do best to shy away from fixer-uppers and instead go for dwellings that are move-in ready. You've been warned.

Cancer (June 21 -- July 22)

Home and family life are of primary importance to Cancers. A big kitchen where everyone can regularly gather will appeal to this sensitive sign. A collector of mementos, Cancers also appreciate lots and lots of closet space to stash their goodies. Highly intuitive, Cancers are also likely to make a housing decision by whether a place "feels right" or not.

Leo (July 23 -- Aug. 22)

Luxurious accommodations are this cat's meow: Think grand, glitzy megamansions. Playrooms or activity centers are also a big draw to satisfy this sign's inner child. As a result of their extravagant tastes, Leos are one of the most likely signs to overspend on their homes. (Sellers: Please don't take advantage of this fact. Thanks.)

Virgo (Aug. 23 -- Sept. 22)

Practical and efficient, Virgo is the most likely sign to live in a very orderly and minimalist type of dwelling. This earth sign is also a fan of any home that offers "green" amenities such as solar power and natural materials. Yet Virgos are also judgmental, and should be careful not to thwart their house-seeking efforts by requiring things to look perfect before they make an offer.

Libra (Sept. 23 -- Oct. 22)

No sign is more prone to desire a beautiful home than Libra. Romantic and social by nature, a Libra will also want a place with adequate space and lots of amenities for entertaining. God bless you, Libra! This sign also strives for balance, so a Libra is unlikely to be happy in a home with an unusual layout.

Scorpio (Oct. 23 -- Nov. 21)

Scorpios crave privacy -- meaning soundproof spaces and properties surrounded by thick shrubs or trees. Hard-working, Scorpios are also most likely to transform a house; they take immense pleasure in a fixer-upper. Scorpios can also sport a great poker face during negotiations, so odds are high they'll score a great deal.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 -- Dec. 21)

Those born under this adventurous sign take risks with real estate choices, like moving into a neighborhood that's on the cusp of gentrifying so they can get more space for their money. Yet they're also honest to a fault -- which could curb their advantages during negotiations -- so you'll have to work very hard to contain your enthusiasm once you find your dream home. Wait until the listing agent's out of earshot, OK?

Capricorn (Dec. 22 -- Jan. 19)

Those under this sign are unusually focused on having the "right" address in the best part of town (even if it's a smaller space). Capricorns are attracted to old-money-type dwellings made of brick or stone or luxury high-rises in their desire for status. Ambitious but responsible, they make great tenants in rental situations, and great, respectful neighbors.

Aquarius (Jan. 20 -- Feb. 18)

Often rebellious, Aquarians tend to march to the beat of their own drummer. (Hint: For all its peace 'n' love vibe, "The Age of Aquarius" was actually a protest song.) For some this will mean avant-garde architecture, for others it means a quirky house in the middle of nowhere. Also, highly inventive and technologically inclined, these souls tend to be attracted to dwellings with innovative features or advanced designs.

Pisces (Feb. 19 -- March 20)

Once they find a home they love, Pisces can be blind to its flaws, swooning over homes with flooding basements in sketchy neighborhoods. Accordingly, it's not a bad idea for this sign to bring an objective party with them when house shopping for a reality check.
