11 Squabble Lane -- could there be a more appropriate Southampton address for acerbic tennis pro John McEnroe? Street name aside, the outspoken tennis great has decided to list his beach estate for $14.5 million.

The house features deeded access to a stretch of white sand and the beauty of scarlet sunsets, a Har-Tru tennis court, and such high-wattage Southampton neighbors as Howard Stern, who lives down the street, Calvin Klein, and Brooke Shields.

McEnroe, a seven-time Grand Slam singles champ, is often called the greatest tennis player of all time. But tennis fans remember the young McEnroe as the bad boy of tennis who squabbled with umpires when calls didn't go his way.

McEnroe, who still plays on the ATP Champions tour of former tennis pros, is married to singer-songwriter Patty Smyth. He was previously married to actress Tatum O'Neal.

The Squabble Lane estate, formerly owned by Standard Oil baron Henry Rogers, features eight bedrooms and seven full bathrooms on over 2 acres of rolling lawns and gardens. The master suite boasts two full bathrooms and balcony, and the living room is topped by a vaulted ceiling and leads to casual and formal dining areas, library, office, and sunroom.

VirtualGlobetrotting says McEnroe bought the property in 1999 for $4.2 million, a savvy purchase. And despite McEnroe's familiarity with being top-ranked, the price tag on his lovely Hamptons retreat doesn't crack the current top 10 for single-family home prices in the 11968 ZIP cod.
