Unceremoniously dumped by the University of Michigan in December, football coach Brady Hoke has probably banned the colors maize and blue from his wardrobe. In fact, he might be leaving the Wolverine State entirely.
Hoke just put his 10,478-square-foot home in Ann Arbor, MI, on the market for $2,995,000.
The five-bedroom home sits right beside a pond on a 34-acre lot, which also features lovely views of nature under the Ann Arbor sky. Is it elite? Of course it is. This is Michigan, for God's sake!
The main level has soaring ceilings and large, open dining and living room spaces with oversize trim and crown molding. The main kitchen offers high-end appliances, granite countertops, and a fridge that matches the custom white cabinetry.
A wet bar, which almost resembles a second kitchen, comes with an oven. You can heat up pizza rolls and mix a bloody mary while football blares from the nearby flat-screen TV.
The home's warmth also emanates from several fireplaces throughout the residence. One spectacular fireplace is located in the oversize living room, which comes in handy during frigid Michigan winters.
But even when the snow begins to fall, you can still enjoy a great time outdoors. The patios are heated, and there's a built-in grill range in the covered barbecue area. Out back, you can relax on the ground-level brick deck and stare out onto the pond.
The ranch-style house was built in 2013 and appears as if it were custom-built for the coach. Hoke signed on to lead the Wolverines in 2011 under a six-year contract, which was set to last through the 2016 season.
But the storied college football program fired Hoke after a couple of uninspiring seasons. He racked up a mediocre 31-20 record for his time in Ann Arbor, including an 18-14 record in Big Ten games. Hoke will walk away with $11.4 million in earnings during his four-year tenure, plus a $3 million buyout.
It's unclear where Hoke will end up next, although he's spending his time visiting other football teams on an educational tour. Speculation had the coach joining the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame as an assistant coach, but he denied those claims earlier this year.
