In a Final Farewell to Cleveland, Cardinals Shortstop Jhonny Peralta Ditching Ohio Home
Star shortstop Jhonny Peralta left Cleveland years ago, but he wasn't entirely ready to call it quits on the Buckeye State until now -- the two-time All-Star recently listed his Westlake, OH, home for sale for $675,000.
The home, a four-bedroom Colonial, has classic curb appeal with a gabled roof, brick faade, and striking double-door entrance.
Inside, the home has a modern, open floor plan with a formal dining room and built-in study in the front of the house and a two-story living room centered around a large fireplace in the back of the home.
The massive kitchen is adjacent to the living room and has enough space for a breakfast bar, island, and dining nook. Granite countertops, dark wood cabinets, and stainless-steel appliances play into the traditional style of the home.
The master suite is welcoming, with high-end carpet and plenty of light. The master bathroom has a shower with a separate soaking tub. His-and-her sinks are nestled into a marble-top vanity with dark hardwood cabinetry.
Below, the basement has been converted into a space that could serve as a large guest suite or man cave fit for a slugging shortstop. There's a large open space for entertaining (a pool table, perhaps?), a separate bath, and a home gym all on the same level.
Outside, the property has views of a large, tranquil pond. And while there isn't enough yard space for a baseball diamond, there's plenty of room for a game of catch.
Peralta broke into Major League Baseball in 2003 with the Cleveland Indians. He left Ohio in 2010 after being traded to the Detroit Tigers. After the 2013 season, Peralta signed a lucrative four-year, $52 million deal with the St. Louis Cardinals.
We're not sure why Peralta finally decided to let go of his Ohio home, but we do know he won't be letting go of St. Louis anytime soon -- the shortstop is signed with the Cardinals through 2017.
