Former Rockies slugger Garrett Atkins is offloading his second California estate in two years -- this time, a six-bedroom Laguna Hills mansion, recently listed for $4.6 million.

Atkins, a California native, spent parts of seven seasons manning third base for the Colorado Rockies, but shone brightest during a four-year stretch from 2005 to 2008, during which he socked 88 home runs. After spending 2010 with the Baltimore Orioles, he left baseball behind.

Since then, he's built a prodigious stable of real estate. In 2013, he put his 7,600-square-foot Irvine, CA home on the market; now, he's selling a French-style estate, also in Orange County, that's perfect for horse lovers -- the home is located in an equestrian community and is encircled by trails. Property records indicate Atkins has made his way back to Colorado, with a recent purchase of a $1.7 million home in Castle Rock.

As for the home he's currently selling, "it's real California resort-style outdoor living," says listing agent Shawn Halen of the HOM Group. "It feels like you're away in Europe somewhere."

And while the home is extraordinary, with Carrara marble and travertine tile, the enormous 2.2-acre lot is the real star. In addition to the adjacent trails, it offers spectacular views of the nearby mountains, a grand pool (including a spa and cascading waterfall), and a long loggia with plenty of outdoor seating and entertainment.
