Football players may not seem like purveyors of avant-garde modernist architecture, but former Dallas Cowboys safety Gerald Sensabaugh is a clear exception. His recently listed $1.82 million mansion in Frisco, TX, "definitely sticks out -- in a good way," says listing agent Brittany Stewart of Keller Williams.
Sensabaugh retired from the Cowboys in 2013 and the very next year started his professional fishing career, with the goal of becoming the first "two-sport" pro bass fisherman.
His five-bedroom home is "sleek and ultramodern," Stewart says. That's clear just by glancing at the exterior, where colorful LED lights refract off the circular windows atop the towering white foyer. "It's a very different property for the area."
Acknowledging the difficulty of selling an ultracontemporary home in Texas, Stewart hopes the 7,528-square-foot home will appeal to relocating Californians. "It will make them feel a little more at home," she says.
From the master bedroom -- circular, with floor-to-ceiling windows mimicking a stage -- to the sunken living room's sculptural ceilings, there's not a space in the home not touched by a bit of modernity.
For Texans -- or Californians, or anyone, really -- seeking something a little different from the state's bigger-is-better Revival-style homes, there's nothing better.
