For hockey coach Dan Bylsma, 2015 is a year of new beginnings. After accepting the offer to coach the National Hockey League's Buffalo Sabres in late May, the former Pittsburgh Penguins coach is selling his former home in Allegheny County, PA.

Located about 15 minutes outside of downtown Pittsburgh, the four-bedroom home is listed for $549,900.

You can enter the home through a dramatic two-story front hallway that looks large enough to have hosted the Stanley Cup after Bylsma's Penguins squad won the coveted trophy in 2009.

The kitchen, which opens to the sunken family room, features custom cherry cabinetry, granite countertops, a slate backsplash, double ovens, stainless-steel appliances, and a granite-covered breakfast bar. The family room includes a gas fireplace and multiple windows.

The first-floor den, with its built-in wood bookcase and wainscoting, looks like a place a coach could spend late nights plotting out power plays. A lower-level game room includes a corner bar.

The master suite has a cathedral ceiling, and the master bath offers a jetted corner tub along with double sinks. A walk-in shower includes a window that provides views of the countryside.

Bylsma was coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins until the summer of 2014, when he was unceremoniously dumped after failing to win a second Stanley Cup with the Penguins. Bylsma called not winning a second cup his biggest disappointment of his tenure in Pittsburgh. "We were in situations and opportunities to do that with the teams we had and the players we had," he said in a May interview with the Pittsburgh CBS affiliate.

Sports Illustrated called his dismissal a " disgraceful move" at the time, because it came after other teams had already hired coaches for the upcoming season. He sat out the past hockey season in limbo, still under contract to the Penguins but without a job.

The home was last sold in July 2009 for $465,000, when Bylsma bought it. It's unlikely the new owners will be chasing a Stanley Cup, but they should feel right at home here with this little piece of Pittsburgh hockey history.
