Donald Trump says the wall along the U.S.-Mexico border will be built in two years if he becomes president.
During a town hall with Fox News host Sean Hannity Wednesday, Trump said the controversial wall that he has made a centerpiece of his campaign will be built without delay.
“It will be complete two years from the time we start,” the billionaire told Hannity. "We’ll start very quickly. You’re going to always want the wall.”
Trump reiterated that Mexico would pay for it.
"They’ll pay," the real estate mogul said, "in one form or another. They may even write us a check, when it’s said and done.”
The Republican front-runner blamed Mexico for what he said was its indifference to factors under its control that have prompted millions of Mexicans to cross the border illegally.
“Let me tell you, without the wall, Mexico could stop 90 percent of the problems just by being tough. They don't want to stop it,” he said.
“Mexico is becoming the new China; we’ve got to stop it,” he said. "Do you know how many millions of jobs have been taken out of our country? What they’re doing with the devaluations of their currencies is just unbelievable.”
Trump’s negative rate is high among Latinos, but the mogul continues to insist that his relationship with Latinos is just fine, thank you.
“I have great respect – and the Hispanics,” Trump said. “You saw in Nevada, I won the poll with the Hispanics … because I'm going to produce jobs. They want jobs. People that are here legally want jobs. But let me just tell you, Mexico, I have good relationships. The problem is, their leaders are too smart and too cunning for our leaders.”
