Florida Sen. Marco Rubio said he thought the first Democratic presidential debate proved to be a race to the Left, as he suspected it would. The senator told Fox News he does not know what to make of reports that Hillary Clinton's campaign feels nervous about squaring off with him, but said he thinks "the biggest threat to her candidacy is her outdated ideas."

"If you watched that debate last night it looked like something from the early '80s," Rubio told Fox News. "It was basically a liberal versus liberal debate about who was going to give away the most free stuff: free college education, free college education for people illegally in this country, free healthcare. Their answer to every problem in America is a government program and a tax increase. That's all they prescribe time and time again."

Rubio, who ranks third in the Washington Examiner's most recent GOP presidential power rankings, said he thinks the Democratic primary will become a race to prove who can be the most "radically liberal, the most big government."
