Obama's Birthday at the White House

There’s a picture on the internet of President Obama’s birthday cake, the first of his presidency. It’s the real deal. We can’t show it here because it was on another website and we don’t do screen grabs. It’s not an Official White House Photo because it wasn’t taken by an Official White House Photographer.

It was taken by a White House employee at the president’s staff birthday party. But we don’t know who. The picture floated around until it landed on that other website. The White House doesn’t know how. Neither do we. But, it’s the real cake, not a crank cake.

Don’t get too excited, though. President Obama prefers pie to cake and at the party where the cake appeared several fruit pies also appeared. We don’t know how many. We do know the party was held Tuesday afternoon in the Roosevelt Room and many otherwise super-busy senior West Wing staff stopped by to share cake and pie. We don’t know, for sure, if the president sampled either the cake or the pies.

There are other pressing issues, don’t ya know.
