The FBI raided the Virginia headquarters of a lobbying firm with ties to U.S. Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., FOX News has confirmed.

A spokesman for the PMA Group, a defense lobbying group, said the firm is "cooperating" with the requests of authorities.

"Government representatives did come to the PMA offices. They requested a number of different kinds of information," said Patrick Dorton, a spokesman for the company.

The raid, first reported by ABC News, focuses on a company founded by a former Murtha aide, Paul Magliochetti.

It specializes in winning clients valuable earmarks from Congress and has reportedly benefited heavily from its ties to Murtha, chairman of the House Defense Appropriations Committee.

According to The New York Times, the raid was part of an investigation into potentially improper campaign donations.

But Matt Mazonkey, a spokesman for Murtha, said the congressman has "absolutely not" been contacted by any federal agency.

"No one is suggesting that Jack Murtha is involved, has anything to do with this. Period," Mazonkey said.

Taxpayers for Common Sense, a watchdog group, said Murtha obtained $38 million in federal earmarks for PMA's clients in the last fiscal year.
