Actress Halle Berry stars alongside Keanu Reeves in “John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum,” but she revealed she turned down a starring role alongside him several years ago.

Berry plays a dog-loving assassin named Sofia in the third installment of the popular action series. The 52-year-old actress was a fan of the first two films and was very excited to be a part of the franchise.

However, speaking to ET Online, Berry admitted that she feels she's making up for lost time given that she had the chance to work with Reeves in the 1994 action film “Speed.” The role ultimately went to Sandra Bullock, who went on to star in its sequel.

“I don't know if you know this, but I was offered ‘Speed’ before Sandra Bullock," Berry confessed. "I stupidly said no. But in my defense, when I read the script the bus didn't leave the parking lot."

The film follows the passengers of a Los Angeles bus after a terrorist plants a bomb that will detonate if the vehicle drops below a certain speed.

“I was like no, no, no, no. Then I see the movie and I'm like, arrrrghh," Berry said.

The actress noted that she was being asked to star before Reeves was attached, and presumably before significant rewrites took place on the script.

“They were offering me the parking lot version,” she mocked.

Fortunately, after 25 years it all seems to have worked out for both actresses, who are now Oscar winners. Berry finally gets her chance to star in a movie alongside the famed action star responsible for both “John Wick” and “The Matrix.” She previously revealed that her training process for the movie was so extensive and exhausting that she actually broke three ribs during a rehearsal.

“It’s like a badge of honor of me,” she said at the time.
