Spanish police have found two bodies they believe to be those of missing former Dutch national volleyball star and her partner. A Spaniard has been arrested.

Interior Ministry delegate for the southern Murcia region Joaquin Bascunana said Monday "all signs indicated" the bodies found in a lemon grove on Sunday are those of Ingrid Visser, 35, and her partner, Lodewijk Severein, 57. He said forensic tests were continuing.

The couple was last seen May 13 when they left a hotel in the city of Murcia. A doctor with whom they had an appointment the next day notified police when they failed to appear.

The couple's families said police had informed them of the find and although identification was still in progress they were shocked by the news.
