Ohio man arrested after wife dies in Cayman crash

GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands – An American tourist who was in a car accident in the Cayman Islands has been arrested after his wife died from her injuries.

Police spokeswoman Janet Dougall says the 64-year-old Ohio man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Dougall said the he has been released on bail. She declined Wednesday to release his name or hometown.

The accident occurred May 10 in western Grand Cayman. The American couple's car collided with a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old local man who was not injured.

The American's wife suffered died at a hospital Monday. He was arrested at the airport as he tried to leave the British Caribbean territory the next day.
