The French president's office says that a priest kidnapped in Cameroon in mid-November has been set free.

President Francois Hollande thanked authorities in Cameroon and Nigeria for their "relentless" efforts in helping to free the Rev. Georges Vandenbeusch. The priest was kidnapped on Nov. 13 in the far north of Cameroon, about 18 miles (30 kilometers) from the border with Nigeria.

Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius was heading to the Cameroon capital of Yaounde to bring Vandenbeusch home, the statement said.

Six French citizens continue to be held hostage in Mali and in Syria.
