A 6.2-magnitude earthquake shook Bolivia's interior on Tuesday.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The quake's epicenter was centered 341 miles underground and 37 miles from Trinidad, the provincial capital of the northern jungle state of Beni, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake hit at 2:48 p.m. local time.

Quakes centered deep underground produce far less violence on the surface than shallow quakes of similar magnitude.
