Manchester, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Manchester United forward Robin van Persie is expected to miss at least the next two weeks because of an ankle injury suffered last weekend against Swansea City.
The Dutchman left Swansea's Liberty Stadium on crutches following his team's 2-1 defeat to the Swans, and United manager Louis van Gaal confirmed on Friday that he will be without Van Persie for at least the next few weeks.
Van Persie will miss out on league games against Sunderland and Newcastle as well as an FA Cup meeting against his former side Arsenal on Monday, March 9.
United gave no timetable for Van Persie's return, meaning he could also miss key games with Tottenham and Liverpool as well.
Van Persie has managed to score 10 goals for United this term, and his absence likely means that Wayne Rooney will be asked to lead the line, with Radamel Falcao and James Wilson also representing options.
Van Gaal got some good news, however, as midfielder Michael Carrick is fully fit after struggling with a muscle problem.
