Valencia, Spain – Valencia midfielder Ever Banega fractured his tibia and perone bones Sunday when his own car rolled over his foot at a gas station and is expected to be out six months, the La Liga club said.
The 23-year-old Banega, an Argentina international, was trapped under his own car during the incident and will have surgery Monday. He will miss the rest of the La Liga season.
"The player Ever Banega has suffered an accident with his own car after training on Sunday when he received a trauma to his left leg that caused a fracture to his tibia and the perone bones," Valencia said in a statement.
"The period of recovery is estimated to be around six months."
Valencia lost 5-1 to Barcelona on Sunday, but remained third in the standings.
