Dubai, United Arab Emirates (SportsNetwork.com) - For a second consecutive year, the United States and Great Britain have been draw to face each other in the first round of the Davis Cup.
The two proud tennis nations met in the round of 16 earlier this year, with the Andy Murray-led Brits coming out on top, 3-1, in San Diego. The loss dropped the 32-time champion Americans into the World Group playoffs, where they crushed Slovakia 5-0 last week to re-join the World Group for next year.
In March, the nine-time winners from Great Britain will host team USA at a yet-to-be-determined site.
This year's finalists, France and Switzerland, will both travel away to European opposition with the French opening their campaign against Germany and the Swiss heading to Belgium in 2015.
One of the stories of the draw on Thursday was the coupling of great South American rivals Brazil and Argentina. The best-of-five tie, which will be held in Argentina, will be the first meeting between the two nations since 1980. The two sides have never met in the World Group.
The third and fourth seeds, the Czech Republic and Serbia, will both begin their campaigns with home ties. The Czechs, drawn in the same half as France, will host Australia, while the Serbs will host neighboring Croatia.
Two other matchups will pit host Kazakhstan against Italy and Canada versus visiting Japan.
The 2014 France-Switzerland final will be held in France in November.
