Kansas City, MO – The Kansas City Royals recalled pitcher Everett Teaford and outfielder Jason Bourgeois from Triple-A Omaha.
Teaford started Wednesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. He made one start for Kansas City earlier in the year and was 0-1 with a 5.73 ERA in three appearances heading into Wednesday's action.
Bourgeois was hitting .205 with two home runs and five RBI in 40 games with Omaha this year. He played in seven games with the Royals earlier this season.
Kansas City also optioned pitcher Francisley Bueno to Omaha and designated catcher Humberto Quintero for assignment.
Quintero was obtained with Bourgeois in a trade that brought both players from the Astros in exchange for minor league reliever Kevin Chapman and outfielder D'Andre Toney.
In 43 games this season, Quintero hit .232 with one homer and 19 RBI.
