INDIANAPOLIS – Rogers Redding has been hired as college football's new national officiating coordinator.
Redding has been serving as the SEC's coordinator of football officials and secretary-rules editor for the NCAA's football rules committee.
He was hired Tuesday by College Football Officiating LLC, a group formed by the Collegiate Commissioners Association and the NCAA in 2007 with the goal of establishing more uniformity in calling games.
Redding will serve as national spokesman for officiating issues, develop training programs for officials, assign and evaluate postseason officiating crews and coordinate national meetings.
He replaces the retiring Dave Parry, who became the first national coordinator in 2008. Redding starts his new job Feb. 1.
