Pacers down Pistons behind balanced attack

David West, Roy Hibbert and Tyler doubles as the Indiana Pacers downed the 79, in the season opener for both teams.

Hansbrough had 15 points and 13 rebounds, West, a free-agent acquisition, scored 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and Roy Hibbert netted 16 points and pulled down 14 boards for the Pacers, who made their first playoff appearance since 2006 last season.

Frank Vogel -- then the interim head coach -- sparked Indiana to a 20-18 finish last year when he took over for the fired Jim O'Brien. He was rewarded with the head coaching job during the offseason.

Indiana fought hard against No. 1 seed Chicago in the first round, but were eventually eliminated in five games.

Jonas Jerebko and Rodney Stuckey each finished with 17 points for the Pistons, who have had three consecutive losing seasons since appearing in six consecutive Eastern Conference Finals between 2003-2008.

Lawrence Frank was named the new head coach in the offseason, taking over for John Kuester, who went 57-107 in two seasons with Detroit.
